It would help to know why the Czech people are voting in the Right Wing. I can just about understand Italy and France where the Social Democrats failed to rectify issues that annoyed a significant number of voters. In Britain it is illegal immigration that gives Reform its 31% in the polls but before that it was Euro Scepticism expressed as a hatred of the EU. Farage was the leader of both movements but strongly supported by the right wing press, especially the Daily Mail. I cannot understand why Trump won so definitely in America, most of them knowing his record during his first administration and the 6th January 2020 attempt to overthrow the constitution. If Farage becomes PM in May 2029 the comfortable world in which most of us exist will be threatened.

There were some positive aspects that came out of the recent election.

For one, the former Communist Party, now rebranded "Stačilo" (Enough), didn't break the 5% threshold to make it into Parliament (for the second time in a row).

Second, a lot of young people and a record number of women were elected to Parliament.

Third, voter turnout was also abnormally high.

Fourth, ANO together with the other two parties (SPD and Motoristé) didn't reach the threshold of 120 seats required to make changes to the Constitution. That would have been catastrophic.

Fifth, Babiš and his ANO party cannot form a majority government with only one of the mentioned parties (SPD and Motoristé), but need to work with both. The last government under Petr Fiala was also a collaboration between relatively like-minded democratic parties, and still there were ruptures, with the Pirate party leaving the government eventually. The three parties trying to form a government now are nowhere near as like-minded. SPD wants to leave NATO and the EU and work closer with Russia, ANO wants to remain in the EU, since Babiš (or rather the companies he owns) get a lot of money from the EU. So I find it hard to see how this odd group of parties can actually govern in the future... I expect the government will not last more than a year once it is formed.
